The MERLIN web app

The MERLIN web app, integrated into the WaterWebTools platform, provides European-wide maps illustrating the status, restoration needs, and potential of freshwater-related ecosystems. Displayed data is based on maps produced in MERLIN by Duarte et al. (2023) and Baattrup-Pedersen et al. (2025), and other publicly available data. It also features a planning tool for demonstrating the outcome of the catchment modelling workflow described by Garcia et al. (2025) combined with the cost–benefit analyses of restoration scenarios described by Kok et al. (2025).
